Job Description

Full time position to commence in Term 3 2025.

Canterbury College is a high-performing award-winning Anglican ELC to 12 school serving the dynamic growth corridor of Logan northern Gold Coast the Scenic Rim and southern is an unrelenting focus in the school on all-roundedness in our students reflecting that academics sport performing arts service and leadership are core dimensions of a Canterbury education.

As we continue to uphold our tradition of excellence we are seeking an accomplished and innovative professional to join our Senior School delivering high-quality Science and Mathematics lessons across Years 7-12.

Your role:

As a Science and Mathematics Teacher in our Senior School youwill play a pivotal role in shaping our students educational journey in their senior years. You will be responsible for planning preparing and delivering an innovative teaching program across Years 7-12 contributing to the development of an engaging and rigorous curriculum which supports the diverse needs and of our students.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan prepare and deliver comprehensive lessons which are consistent with the relevant syllabi followed by the College.
  • Engage with students parents and colleagues to support a positive learning community.
  • Work collaboratively with peers to meet position and departmental responsibilities.
  • Organise assessment moderation activities that support consistent and comparable judgements of student learning.
  • Foster an inclusive stimulating classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Deal promptly and efficiently with requirements such as record keeping and the maintenance of student attendance and achievement information.
  • Participate actively in department meetings professional development and school-wide initiatives.
  • Develop a culture of high expectations for all students by modelling appropriate dress language behaviour and communication practices.
  • Contribute to professional networks and associations and build productive links with the wider community to improve teaching and learning.
  • Through the Communities of Practice (CoPs) teams be active and engaged in sharing practice and raising the bar of student achievement.
  • Construct accurate informative and timely reports to students and parents/carers about student learning and achievement.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Be passionate about teaching and enriching the learning experience for students in Years 7-12.
  • Have a willingness to be part of a well-established and collaborative team.
  • Portray a demonstrated ability to apply the principles of inclusive teaching and learning including the use of learning technologies and assessment to create a supportive and challenging environment in which students are supported in achieving to their potential.
  • Proven classroom management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the diverse extracurricular program of the College.
  • Have an active interest in and commitment to the education of our students.
  • Proven ability to conduct oneself in a way which develops personal respect respect for the College and the teaching profession.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in teaching Science Years 7-12.
  • Proven experience in teaching Mathematics Years 7-12.
  • Current Queensland College of Teacher Registration.
