Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Chemistry Department within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position.

The successful candidate will assist primarily with teaching general and organic chemistry lecture and laboratory classes. Other courses may be assigned as per the candidates qualifications. This position will teach seven undergraduate courses during the academic year using a 4/3 or 3/4 semester load format.

This teaching-oriented position requires an individual with a dynamic personality who can engage effectively with undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty across UConns regional campuses and the main campus in Storrs. The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate with Chemistry faculty system-wide and will bring college-level teaching experience in a wide range of chemistry courses. They will offer a variety of classes including common curriculum courses such as general chemistry organic chemistry and other foundational or interdisciplinary offerings. The incumbent must share a deep commitment to effective instruction and to broadening participation among members of underrepresented groups; demonstrate through teaching and service the value of diversity in the academic experience; integrate multicultural perspectives into instructional methods and research tools; and contribute to the ongoing development of inclusive pedagogical techniques that meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests. APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is a full-time nine (9)-month position for an initial duration of one year renewable for up to two additional years (three years total) contingent on satisfactory performance mutual agreement and availability of funds with a start date of August 23 2025.

The successful candidates primary academic appointment will be at the Storrs Campus.
