Your new role:
To provide direct clinical Dental Nursing assistance to the Dental Officers and to participate in all infection control procedures including participating in the sterilsation room as directed.
The Dental Assistants position is focused on several key areas of the operation of the Dental Service. The incumbent is expected to maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in the areas indicated in the section Responsibilities.
These duties have been determined by management after considering the current Strategic plan of the Organization some contractual obligations priorities established in local health needs surveys and in consultation with the Dental team.
You will be responsible for:
Receive and prepare clients for dental treatment and provide chairside assistance
Reprocessing of instrument as per AS-5369: 2023 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices in health and non-health related facilities standards
Ensure safe use and maintenance of dental equipment in accordance to manufactures guidelines
What you will need to succeed:
Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent
Relevant Dental Nursing experience and skills
Experience in working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to perform to the highest standards
Knowledge of infection control in dental clinic settings is essential
Ability to learn and operate new dental equipment e.g. electronic tracking systems sterilisers instrument washers digital photography and also ability to learn to perform additional tests related to the usage of new equipment in the sterilisation room
Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team reliability & punctuality
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
Highly developed time management and organisational skills
