This is a unique opportunity to join an innovative early intervention team co-located with Luton Councils Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). As a Families First Senior Worker you will play a pivotal role in supporting families facing complex challenges related to substance use with the overarching goal of preventing escalation into statutory child protection services.

You will work directly with families requiring intensive support developing swift referral pathways conducting assessments and delivering both psychosocial and clinical interventions. Working collaboratively across agencies you will ensure that safeguarding is prioritised and progress is continually reviewed.

Where: Luton

Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Full Time Salary Range: 32002.35 - 34214.21 dependent on experience (dependent on full time hours pro rata for part time)

Contract Type:Fixed Term until 31st March 2026

*Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the role:

  • To support and provide appropriate interventions which enable individuals to have successful engagements with appropriate services focused particularly on substance misuse and early intervention.
  • To develop a fast-track referral system into substance misuse services for those identified by MASH conducting triage and assessments and facilitating psychosocial and clinical interventions.
  • To provide tailored brief interventions that include harm reduction advice alongside signposting and referring to local support services dependent on individuals support needs.
  • To develop outcome-focused joint care plans for an individual assessed as ready to engage in recovery-based treatment including engagement with multi-agency professionals involved in the individuals care.
  • To identify appropriate referrals for families children and young people supported by the team such as CGL Family & Carers or Hidden Harm programmes
  • To provide advice support and training to MASH staff regarding drug and alcohol awareness screening assessment processes and referral pathways.
  • To participate in multi-disciplinary team meeting/case discussions within ResoLUTiONs and as part of Families First as required.
  • To work flexibly across a number of operational sites as required; this will include various satellite sites and community locations.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop recovery plans that clearly identify how they will enable progression in addressing substance use and re/integrating into the community.

About you:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.
  • Experience of working with clients with complex physical and / or mental health needs including co-morbidity.
  • Knowledge and experience of multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions to achieve good outcomes for the service user group e.g. mental health services criminal justice agencies community groups etc.
  • Good working knowledge of mental health interventions services and good practice.
  • Experience of participation in audit cycles
  • Working knowledge of substance misuse and social care
  • Experience of working with vulnerable people including those with substance misuse and at-risk families
  • Significant experience of partnership working including development and maintenance of relationships and pathways
  • Experience of using case management systems and the ability to maintain timely accurate and comprehensive records
  • Able to communicate in an effective calm and professional manner
  • Able to work confidently as part of a team and independently
