  • Two Years Fixed Term Part-Time at 0.5FTE

  • Higher Education Officer Level 5 $80405 - $88737 p.a pro-rata.

About the Position

Based in Alice Springs the Indigenous Liaison Officer plays a key role in providing culturally sensitive support and liaison for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander patients and families participating in research investigating chronic lung infections. You will collaborate closely with clinicians researchers and health care teams to facilitate effective patient engagement communication and sample collection in regional and remote communities across the Northern Territory. Knowledge and fluency in a local and recognised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language is required for this position.

The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1995 (NT). About You

You are an approachable person who is passionate about making a difference in Indigenous and/or Torress Strait Islander health. With strong interpersonal and communication skills you will connect sensitively and effectively across cultural contexts and bring working knowledge of local Aboriginal and Torress Strait Islander languages and customs. Your general computer literacy will support you in maintaining accurate records and your ability to handle information respectfully reflects a deep commitment to confidentiality.

While health care experience or knowledge of health issues affecting Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities (such as respiratory health) is desirable it is not essential.
