About the opportunity
Join our Regulatory Services business unit as a Compliance Services Officer and play a crucial role in upholding community standards and ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations. In this dynamic and rewarding position youll address a variety of issues related to Asset Protection Building Site Compliance Local Laws and Planning. This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of community safety and standards within our lively municipality.
You will need to be available for a rostered On-call rotation and programmed after-hours events.
You will make an impact by
- Providing efficient and effective service across Local Laws activities such as Asset Protection Building Site Compliance as well as Planning Enforcement.
- Handling complex customer interactions via field operations front counter and telephone enquiries.
- Educating residents businesses and builders on Councils Local Law and relevant legislation.
- Taking a proactive approach to enforcing legislation and addressing public safety issues.
- Delivering reactive and proactive enforcement services for parking traffic local laws litter building sites and animal management.
What you will bring
- Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant legislation (ie Local Laws Domestic Animals Act Planning and Environment Act Environment Protection Act Local Government Act Road Rules etc) and ability to interpret and enforce the above legislation.
- Highly developed customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to deal humanely with domestic animals and livestock to ensure public safety
- Appreciation of Health & Safety guidelines in terms of risk minimisation strategies.
- Well-developed computer skills.
- Knowledge of the Statutory Planning process and associated legislation policies and planning scheme.
- Current Victorian drivers licence
