The program objectives include developing a thorough understanding of oncology and its impact fostering interprofessional teamwork interpreting diagnostic tests within the context of oral oncology providing safe and effective oral healthcare for oncology patients (including diagnosis and treatment of patients with benign or malignant lesions of the head and neck pre-therapy oral evaluation prior to oncology therapy and management of cancer therapy related oral complications) refining patient management skills and educating both professional and lay communities on the vital link between oral and systemic health. Fellows will be allocated dedicated time for research endeavors and will be actively encouraged to seek out collaborative prospects.
The educational framework of the fellowship encompasses various learning opportunities including patient care in oral medicine and oral oncology clinics inpatient consultation services seminars lectures conferences and involvement in research and scholarly activities. Overall the fellowship aims to equip dentists with a solid foundation in oral oncology and a commitment to promoting oral health in the community.
