Job Description

Competitive Research Directorate Grants Management (Post-Award) Unit

Vall dHebron Research Institute (VHIR) is a public sector institution located in Barcelona (Spain) that promotes and develops innovative biomedical research at the University Hospital Vall dHebron. VHIR is oriented towards finding solutions to the health problems of the citizens and has the will to contribute to the scientific educational social and economic development within its area of competence.

The Competitive Research Directorate will support the scientific community at Vall dHebron throughout the full lifecycle of competitive projects. This Directorate encourages and supports researchers in the pursuit of competitive funding for research detecting opportunities and contributing to the development of quality proposals and the successful implementation of granted projects.

Under the leadership of the Competitive Projects Directorate the Grants Management (Post-Award) Unit provides financial follow-up guidance on regulations compliance and post-award management of grant-funded projects for the best research outcomes. The aim of the Unit is to ensure grant-management efficiency and financial sustainability while maximizing the impact of grant-funded research.

We are currently looking for one motivated person to join the team as post-award project manager specialized in national grants.

Education and qualifications:

Required:
  • University degree related to the job description duties.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Catalan and/or Spanish.
    Desired:
    • Additional training in competitive research projects.
    • Good level of English will be valued.
    Experience and knowledge:
    Required:
    • Experience in financial management
    • Personal skills:

      • Ability to meet tight deadlines
      • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
      • Excellent teamwork and relational skills
      Desired:
      • Experience in research institutions in the biomedical sector particularly in ISCIII-accredited Institutos de Investigacin Sanitaria will be valued.
      • Experience in post-award management of basic and clinical research grants funded by national organisations (ISCIII AEI PERIS LMTV3 Fundaci La Caixa etc.)
      • Experience managing grants of European (H2020 Horizon Europe etc.) or international origin.
      Main responsibilities and duties:
      • Management grant budgets preparing financial reports and audits.
      • Monitoring project work plan scientific reports and implementation of grant agreements.
      • Anticipating possible deviations during project implementation planning risk contingency actions if necessary.
      • Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and sponsoring agency regulations and policies.
      • Serving as liaison between researchers and funding agencies.
      • Any other duties related to the job as requested to contribute to the general functioning of the Competitive Research Directorate.

      Labour conditions:

      • Full-time position: 40h/week.
      • Starting date: immediate.
      • Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale.
      • Contract: Open-ended contract linked to project.
