Job Description

Patient Access Representative Contract Role
  • Location: Cambridge MA 02138
  • Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
  • Open to Local & Travel RNs

Job Highlights:

  • Shift: Day Shift (8)-8:00 start
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
  • Weekly Pay: $640 $800
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Patient Registration:

  • Greet and register patients upon arrival
  • Explain registration procedures and respond to patient inquiries

Payment Processing:

  • Collect co-pays deductibles co-insurance and outstanding balances
  • Ensure secure handling of cash checks and receipts
  • Reconcile cash drawer at the end of the day

Insurance Verification:

  • Complete the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for each patient
  • Update insurance information accordingly

Document Collection & Processing:

  • Obtain and process patient signatures on all required forms (consents financial agreements waivers)
  • Distribute scan and record documentation as per department protocols

Coverage Counseling:

  • Advise patients on non-covered services
  • Secure necessary ABN (Advance Beneficiary Notice) signatures and other waivers

Workflow Management:

  • Monitor patient waiting area and manage registration flow efficiently
  • Communicate delays and maintain a positive patient experience

Data Integrity:

  • Follow up on incomplete inpatient registrations to gather missing information

Patient Safety & Support:

  • Respond to concerns and escalate potential safety issues
  • Identify and act on visible signs of health risks to others following proper containment procedures

Work Environment:

  • Maintain cleanliness and confidentiality at the registration desk and in patient areas
  • Ensure secure storage of confidential information
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a business setting providing customer service
  • Experience with processing and verifying electronic demographic financial or other business-related information and data.
