Job Description
Pay Grade/Pay Range:Minimum: $15.48 - Midpoint: $18.56 (Hourly N2)
Department/Organization:208124 - CCHS EMS
Normal Work Schedule:Varies; must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Job Summary:The Emergency Medical Responder assists with stabilization and safe transport of patients needing emergency care. Completes incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Required Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED required. Must be certified as an Emergency Medical Responder by the State of Alabama.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR/AED First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire. Must be able to lift/push up to 200 pounds; this position will assist in the evacuation of sick and injured persons during an emergency.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge:Working knowledge of the University of Alabama campus and surrounding area. Functional understanding of basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Functional understanding of communications equipment including telephone 2-way radios and recording equipment.
Excellent clinical organizational and administrative skills. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and health care professionals. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPPA regulations at all times.
Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact versatility and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Working knowledge of data entry and Microsoft Office. Skill in exercising initiative judgment problem-solving and decision-making.
