You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThis Vacancy is located in the Psychology Department of Eastern Louisiana Mental Hospital System in Jackson LA (East Feliciana Parish). ELMHS is the largest 24-hour multi-site state psychiatric complex comprised of residential outpatient and inpatient services.

Job Duties:
Duties inherent in the position are performed independently and wide-ranging. They include direct provision of psychological services consultation in behavior management practices to other disciplines ongoing professional peer evaluation competency to stand trial assessment (both independently and in tandem with psychiatry) serving on review panels as needed and providing court testimony on the issue of competency to stand trial program development supervision of clinical services and contributing to training and supervision of interns externs and postdoctoral fellows.
65% works to provide resources and support needed to provide uninterrupted and appropriate patient care. Completes psychological evaluations (diagnostic competency assessments risk assessments and assessments of intelligence psychopathology potential feigning/lack of effort and additional assessments) that are completed in a timely manner and are of high quality. Makes recommendations and contributes to treatment plan development. Provides administrative oversight of Psychology duties and functions on assigned unit as needed.
Monitors patient progress in competency restoration efforts to help insure compliance with Federal consent decree and provides data Clinical Department Head monthly meetings. Provides any needed information for the Forensic database.
10% Provides documentation to the court and court testimony as needed that is helpful in determining a persons competence to stand trial and other psychological issues.
10% May contribute to and assist in the specialized training program for the development of the internship program and the Tulane Postdoctoral Fellowship at ELMHS. Provides supervision of Psychological interns externs fellows and other trainees when they are assigned to the designated unit as part of their rotation.
10% Interacts with professional peers and other staff in an appropriate and cooperative manner. Functions as a courteous and capable team member and treats other team members and staff with dignity. Provides clear information about the extent and limits of professional duties.
5% Participates in educational trainings and competency requirements as mandated for accreditation and licensure of the facility as well as mandated by all rules regulations policies and procedures of LDH OBH ELMHS and Civil service
Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor/designee to maintain continuity and quality accreditation and licensure requirements. Perform all other duties assigned by a supervisor but not listed for the smooth operation of the unit/building and/or the facility
Maintains current valid and unencumbered motor vehicle operators license.
Adheres to all rules regulations policies and procedures of LDH OBH Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System and Civil Service
Position-Specific Details:Psychologist 3 has a Special Entrance Rate of$44.79 / hourly.
-Retention Pay of $1.00 and up to $5.00 for every hour worked.
-Premium Pay of $2.00 every hour worked.

If filled as a Job Appointment there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
