Job Description

This is a hybrid position. The work for this role is remote but there are occasional meetings and events that will require onsite presence.

Join the Corewell Health team as a Medical Professional Services Coordinator and play a critical role in ensuring our patients receive care from the most qualified and credentialed physicians. In this pivotal position you will be at the forefront of maintaining the highest standards for our medical staff by collecting verify and analyzing vital information such as education licenses and certifications. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy will help identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with credentialing requirements. Job Summary

Directs and maintains accountability for complex multi-faceted programs. Provides administrative support through the appropriate use of software and/or other tools. Exhibits initiative and knowledge to assure operations carry on in the usual manner in managements absence.

Essential Functions

  • Initiates and supports the provider application process by sending receiving and analyzing provider documents and data import to determine completeness in preparation for the credentials verification process.
  • Responsible for gathering verifying and evaluating highly confidential and sensitive healthcare provider credentials consistent with departmental guidelines and accreditation standards.
  • Efficiently performs all aspects of credentialing verification including appointment and reappointment to ensure current credentials and timely handoff and/or review and approval of provider files.
  • Responsible for accurate data entry to ensure the integrity of credentialing information in applicable database(s).
  • Collaborates with Participating Medical Staff Offices Department Directors and/or external agencies to facilitate and ensure smooth handoff during the credentialing process.
  • Uses critical thinking skills to conduct follow-up with individual providers and internal and external entities to resolve discrepancies identified during the credentialing process.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and process improvement initiatives to continuously improve work product quality and efficiency.
  • Shared responsibility for reviewing processing and distributing incoming correspondence from CVO email and fax.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred

  • Associates Degree in related field
  • Health plan or health system credentialing
  • Experience with credentialing software and utilization of electronic workflows (CredentialStream MSOW etc.)
