We are currently recruiting for a School Administrator to function as the Assistant Superintendent for the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF) schools. This position reports to the Director for State Operated Healthcare Facilities.
Key initiatives for this position may include any of the following over time:
Providing management for assigned projects.
Evaluating school operations and communicating recommendations to the facility and to the Division;
Providing formal and informal consultation to facility management and school staff on policy and best practice service delivery efforts.
Interpreting state and federal statutes regulation and standards; participating as directed by the Division in development of responses to federal and state regulatory and legal bodies.
Coordinating planning components of the design and implementation of complex educational services programs or operational features.
Providing leadership in efforts to promote standardization of identified activities across DSOHF schools.
The Office of Education Services (OES):
The Office of Education Services (OES) serves the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF) and is recognized as public school unit 997. The mission of OES is to provide quality comprehensive developmental and educational opportunities for students to develop the skills necessary to reach their highest potential for independent and successful lives.
OES provides information and services for the 3 schools located within the state psychiatric hospitals the 4 schools within the state developmental centers and the educational programs of Wright School and Whitaker Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility. In addition OES provides licensure and contract support services for Rehabilitation of the Blind and the Family Infant and Preschool Program (FIPP). The Assistant Superintendent reports to the Director of the Division who reports directly to the Deputy Secretary for Facilities and Licensing of the Department of Health and Human Services.
The Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities:
The Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities is responsible for the administrative management and coordination of services among the state operated psychiatric hospitals developmental centers alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers child facilities and neuro-medical treatment centers. Those services and supports include development planning implementation monitoring and evaluation of 3 psychiatric hospitals 3 developmental centers 2 alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers 2 child residential schools and 3 neuro-medical treatment centers.

These KSAs along with the minimum education and experience listed are required in order to be deemed eligible for the position therefore you must provide supporting information within the body of your application to demonstrate your possession of each KSA listed.
Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:
Working knowledge of Exceptional Children policies and state/federal education regulations in North Carolina
Demonstrated experience in supervising observing and evaluating licensed educational staff
Proven expertise in school administration including compliance monitoring program oversight and resource management
Experience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with interagency and facility-level stakeholders
Proven understanding of State Board of Education policies and central office operations
Management Preferences:
Experience in or with state-operated educational programs
