JOB OVERVIEW

Job Title: Physician Emergency Medicine (ABEM)

Job Type: Locum Tenens

Location: Blacksburg VA

Service Setting: Emergency Department (Hospital Freestanding ED)

Coverage Type: Clinical Only

Coverage Period: 06/18/2025 Ongoing

Clinical Shift Schedule: Montgomery ED 7a 7p 2p 10p 7p 7a; Christiansburg ED 7a 7p 7p 7a

PATIENT INFORMATION

Patient Demographics: Adults and Pediatrics

Patient Volume/Census: 32000 annual ED volume

Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine

FACILITY INFORMATION

Trauma Level: Level III Trauma Center

EMR System: Meditech

Specialty Backup Available: Cardiovascular Orthopedics

Support Staff Available: 32 hours of physician coverage 32 hours of NP/PA coverage daily

Reason for Coverage: Full-Time Vacancy

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Rate: TBD

Travel Lodging and Malpractice Insurance

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

General Emergency Medicine procedures as applicable

History of ATLS required; ACLS and PALS if not EM Boarded

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Licenses: Active VA license and DEA required to start

Certifications: ABEM or AOBEM; ACLS ATLS and PALS if not EM Boarded

Experience: Must be board certified or board eligible within 7 years of residency completion

Other Qualifications: Will cross-credential at LewisGale Christiansburg

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide emergency medical care at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery and Christiansburg ED

Work a flexible schedule across day evening and night shifts

Collaborate with APPs and other staff to provide timely and high-quality emergency services

Maintain documentation within Meditech EMR system

Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and emergency medicine standards
