Job Description

Its easy to become isolated when partners and friends pass on or when family members dont live close by. And if youre unable to get out or youre unwell it can be hard to meet people. Just having someone ask about your day can make all the difference to how youre feeling. Looking forward to a good conversation can really brighten up the day.

Our Caring Caller programme is a telephone friendship service. We match volunteers with clients around the country who would benefit from regular connection.

Our specialty teams specifically support members of your own community and as part of our Samoan team you can connect with your client in either Samoan or English.

As a Team Manager you will provide support to your Team Leader and volunteers including:

  • Assist with recruitment of new volunteers
  • Volunteer and client matching ensuring new clients are followed up with to ensure quality and connection of volunteer
  • Ensure accurate Volunteer and Client information is kept on internal database
  • Connect with the Community Care Manager to provide updates and any volunteer movements. 

Please note this is an unpaid voluntary position.

Our Caring Caller Managers provide vital support to our Team Leaders and Volunteers ensuring our service truly makes a difference in someones life. Hato Hone St John provides training and ongoing support to all our volunteers.  

If you would like to make a unique and valuable contribution to your community and feel you have the following qualities then we would like to hear from you:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team of volunteers
  • Willingness to facilitate and/or support the facilitation of recruitment onboarding and ongoing training of volunteers
  • A friendly caring and compassionate personality
  • A genuine interest in the well-being of others

Successful applicants will receive full training and membership of Hato Hone St John (which gives free ambulance service for immediate family).
