Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced test automation engineer to elevate our software development & platform ecosystem. The main objective of the role is drive quality assurance for Fords critical Platform Lifecycle Management (PLM) software development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills in with expertise with modern testing frameworks like Selenium Playwright & deep experience with CI/CD pipeline integration. Ford is looking for the right candidate who can design comprehensive automation strategies build custom testing tools when needed and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure our mission-critical systems perform flawlessly. This role requires excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to work in an agile environment while maintaining the high-quality standards that Fords engineering teams depend on daily.

This role is specifically within the Software Development portion of our Product Development (PD) Platform Operations team helping maintain all aspects of our deployed Dassault Systmes 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) and Siemens Teamcenter platforms.

What Youll Do:

Test Design & Execution: Design and develop automated test scripts that validate functionality without manual intervention Build and maintain automated test suites using Selenium Playwright other modern frameworks Execute comprehensive QA tests across databases networks applications systems & software Perform regular automated testing cycles and regression tests as part of CI/CD pipeline processes Create test data setup and cleanup scripts for testing environments

Process Improvement & Analysis: Identify strategic opportunities within the software development process where automation can be implemented Analyze test coverage metrics and identify gaps in automation Locate bugs and quality issues across business development and service-level IT processes Review test results and document any defects found during testing Present quality metrics and testing reports to stakeholder teams

Technical Implementation & Innovation: Configure automation tools & frameworks to enhance testing capabilities Maintain and optimize existing automation infrastructure for maximum efficiency Develop performance and load tests to validate system scalability Build custom testing tools when standard solutions dont meet requirements Research emerging testing technologies and recommend adoption strategies

Collaboration: Work with development teams during sprint planning to identify testing requirements Participate in agile ceremonies including stand-ups retrospectives and sprint planning Coordinate with product owners to validate requirements and acceptance criteria Partner with infrastructure teams to optimize test environment management Mentor development teams on automation best practices and conduct training sessions

Documentation & Standards: Create comprehensive test plans and automation guidelines Establish testing best practices across development teams Update test documentation to reflect current processes and procedures Ensure compliance and security testing requirements are met through automation

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
• 4 years as a test automation engineer software quality assurance or software developer
• 4 years of test automation experience with modern frameworks (Selenium Cypress TestNG etc.)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for quality and continuous improvement

Technical Skills:

• 3 years experience with testing tools: Elastic Search (ELK) Jira Xray ServiceNow and other SaaS products
• 3 years experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration
• Strong programming skills in Python Java JavaScript or C#
• Experience testing across multiple technology stacks (databases networks applications etc.)
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS GCP or Azure) for development & testing environments
• Experience with modern front end and back end development (React Angular )
• Understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and microservices within cloud environments
• Experience designing and architecting cloud-based data pipelines and micro services
• Experience with databases & relational databases (PostgreSQL MySQL)
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and serverless architecture
• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) & Ansible
• Strong knowledge of automation frameworks to enhance development workflows
• Strong understanding of security best practices and testing principles
• Experience implementing data governance frameworks and security measures
• Outstanding communication collaboration and presentation abilities
• Demonstrated success delivering complex projects under aggressive timelines
• Previous experience in manufacturing or automotive environments preferred (not required)
