Job Summary
The Manager of the SimLife Center oversees all operations of the F. Marie Hall SimLife Center ensuring high-quality simulated learning experiences for Midland College students as well as partners and others who want to use the facility. This position supports simulation-based education plays a key role in student instruction and evaluation and is responsible for faculty training equipment management and scenario development.
Essential Functions
Simulation Center Operations Oversee the day-to-day operations and scheduling of the SimLife Center Maintain and implement user protocols Coordinate the use of facilities and equipment by MC and other users Manage inventory and order supplies in collaboration with the Dean of Health Sciences Coordinate maintenance and repair of simulation equipment and related technology Assist with purchase negotiations and vendor communication Assist with partner needs Simulation Design and Implementation Plan design implement and manage simulation scenarios for clinical programs Collaborate with course faculty to align simulation activities with course and program learning outcomes Assist in assessing learning needs developing evaluation tools and tracking student performance Manage and integrate simulation activities in the colleges learning management system ( LMS ) Participate in and facilitate simulation scenarios including debriefing Instruction and Faculty Support Teach and evaluate clinical simulation sessions for nursing (and possibly other Health Science and Allied Health) students Educate and support faculty in the use of simulation technologies Participate in the assessment and improvement of simulation-based instruction Compile and submit student evaluation data to the Program Director/Chairs and appropriate faculty Personnel and Administration Hire train and supervise simulation technology support staff in collaboration with the Dean of Health Sciences Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in coordination with MC IT and vendors Participate in college committees departmental meetings and faculty development activities Engage in professional development and remain current in simulation education trends Assist with student recruitment and community outreach events Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Lift/move equipment required for instruction Ambulate throughout the simulation center to monitor and teach students Sit or stand for extended periods Use manual dexterity in operating simulation equipment and computers The person in this position frequently communicates with others verbally and electronically; must be able to exchange accurate information Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus Ability to lift/move simulation equipment up to 50 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Nursing or equivalent Current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas Minimum of three years of varied nursing experience Proficient in computer use Strong command of written and spoken English Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License good driving record and be insurable on Midland Colleges insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching clinical nursing courses or precepting nursing students Experience using or teaching in a simulation lab Experience in the use of simulation technology Knowledge of instructional theory and simulation pedagogy Certification in simulation (such as Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator)
