Employment Type: Part-Time: Teaching 1st and 2nd Block 7:40 a.m.- 11:35 a.m.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications following district and TDOE guidelines
Position Summary
Haywood High School is seeking a qualified and passionate Part-Time Cosmetology Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction per the Tennessee Department of Educations Cosmetology I standards. The instructor will be responsible for teaching both theoretical knowledge and practical skills preparing students for state licensure and careers in the cosmetology industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructional Delivery: Teach all aspects of the Cosmetology I curriculum including but not limited to hair care nail care skin care sanitation and salon management.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement lesson plans that meet TDOE standards and accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance through practical demonstrations written tests and projects; provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe organized and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to state laws and regulations governing cosmetology education and practice.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry trends and educational best practices.
- Collaboration: Work with school administration and CTE staff to support program goals and student success.
Qualifications
- Licensure:
- Valid Tennessee Cosmetology License.
- Valid Tennessee Cosmetology Instructor License as required by the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a licensed cosmetologist.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a board-approved instructor training program (minimum of 300 hours) or equivalent experience as a junior instructor.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in classroom and laboratory instruction.
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
- Organizational skills to manage classroom records and student progress.
