What Youll Do
- Performs duties required to operate environmental control and other HVAC equipment including the testing of and change out of filtration components/systems
- Operation and preventive maintenance of centrifugal refrigeration chillers centrifugal and proportional (positive displacement) pumps industrial gas handling equipment and systems air compressors and compressed air systems oil handling methanol handling vacuum producing equipment water treatment for corrosion and biologics chilled water distribution systems cooling towers and cooling tower distribution systems including overhead or underground valve operations is required up to 24inch
- Performs operations of steam systems distribution and steam stations including complex valving on high lines
- Performs preventive maintenance to include lubrication oiling cycling of components adjustments for optimum/efficient operations of utility equipment and/or components
- Performs equipment troubleshooting and/or investigative activities to include without supervisory direction to start or stop equipment as required to safely and efficiently support the plant mission minor maintenance immediate actions in the case of an emergency and preventive maintenance as scheduled
- Requires use of electric and pneumatic hand tools operates motorized equipment and vehicles as well as hoists cranes and other mechanical systems
- Assignments may include extended work periods with respirator hearing protection as well as limited work at heights
- Work inside and outside restricted areas
- Keyboard and mobile radio system usage required
- Must satisfactorily complete all training and qualification requirements

Minimum Job Requirements
- High School Education/GED requires five years of practical utility experience in operating a variety of mechanical-electrical and valving equipment
- This position entails shift work a successful applicant must be able to work any shift
- This position also requires above average communication skills
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2(i.e. High School diploma or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2)
Preferred Job Requirements
- Strong skill and knowledge of primary computer control systems is preferred as well as a working level of skill in using computers
- Education in a technical discipline beyond secondary education is highly preferred
Notes
Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability
Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
