Together with the University of British Columbias Department of Physics and Astronomy we are seeking applications from recent particle physics graduates interested in a Postdoctoral position with the Rare Decay Group.
As the successful applicant you will have an opportunity to participate in research related to studies of pion decays and search for exotics with the PSI PIONEER experiments ().
PIONEER is a new experimental effort to measure the pion branching ratio at an unprecedented precision. It is building upon previous experiments at TRIUMF (PIENU) and PSI (PEN) and is exploring advanced technologies including noble liquid calorimetry and Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGADs).
RESPONSIBILITES:
The successful applicant will focus on and contribute in a significant manner to simulations and data analysis detector and electronics R&D and experiment-related operations including:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
As the successful applicant you will have a good knowledge of data analysis techniques software and detection techniques used in particles physics. Ideally this will include:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your qualifications include a recent Ph.D. (within 5 years) in particle physics (or you are expecting to complete your PhD within a few months).
This grant funded position is jointly offered by UBCs Department of Physics and Astronomy and TRIUMF. The successful applicant will be employed by and located at TRIUMF in Vancouver BC and will have an initial term of one year. This may be renewed based on mutual satisfaction and continued grant funding. Salary will be competitive depending on experience and a comprehensive benefit package is offered.
