Job Description

  • A post-secondary degree in Political Science Social Sciences or a related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible strategic and project management and interested party relationship roles experience

Assets:

  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of strategic and project management and interested party relationship roles including advanced knowledge and skills related to civic operations community development and other orders of government.
  • Experience leading large corporate project initiatives and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience leading or contributing to policy initiatives
  • Experience leading/coordinating strategic planning functions such as business planning briefings presentations conducting research trend analysis tracking performance metrics compiling information for business improvements and communications and public engagement
  • Experience preparing complex reports for various audiences
  • Experience facilitating complex intergovernmental tables on files such as affordable and/or supportive housing development and infill development policies and providing advice to the Director

Skills required for success:

  • High political acumen; able to analyze sensitive issues and advise senior leaders
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced high-volume deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to effectively transfer ideas concepts and information into effective and efficient strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information translate ideas and concepts into effective strategies and problem-solve using interest-based approaches
  • Proven knowledge and experience in business strategic planning approaches and implementation project management processes and managing multiple projects
  • Understanding of change management principles and practices and capacity building
  • Proven understanding and experience in business process improvement mapping and management
  • Advanced communication and public engagement skills excellent presentation skills facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience in report writing Council and Committee activities budget preparation and management and municipal administration
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication abilities including listening presenting and writing at a highly consultative level
  • Future-focused and proactive approach to work (systems thinking).Ability to develop implement and evaluate innovative plans and influence key decision-makers
  • Demonstrated ability to function comfortably effectively and authentically in a dynamic complex and sometimes ambiguous environment; able to exercise good judgment and a measured approach to managing stress
  • Effective and efficient time management in a dynamic environment based on competing urgent long-term and important work demands
  • Advanced computer skills including the Google Platform (Gmail Google Suite Hangouts)

Up to 1 temporary full-time position for up to 12 months

Hours of Work: 33.75

Salary Range: $47.165 - $59.278 Hourly $83092.940 - $104433.020 Annually
Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 or IBEW (add to appropriate posting) and will be forthcoming shortly.

Are you a seasoned professional passionate about making a tangible impact on market and affordable housing in Edmonton The City of Edmonton is seeking a Strategic Relationships Coordinator to lead and support crucial relationship-building efforts with the development industry government and community groups. This pivotal role within our Housing Action Team is instrumental in achieving the City Plans ambitious goals of ensuring no one is in core housing need or experiencing chronic homelessness as our city grows and to develop a diversity of housing types thereby offering residents more choice of housing types in all areas of the city. If you possess a blend of political acumen housing expertise and exceptional communication skills we invite you to contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate Edmonton.

Reporting to the Program Supervisor this position is a dedicated resource responsible for leading and supporting relationship building and maintenance with interested parties regarding housing supply growth. This includes the development industry government and community through communications engagement marketing and education of the Housing Action Teams initiatives and programs. This role is critical to informing interested parties about the Citys initiatives to attain housing supply growth targets by 2026. The position also contributes to building the capacity of community organizations and not-for-profits strengthening relationships and supporting their development of strong initiatives for future funding opportunities. You will act as a conduit for Housing Action Team communications contributing to Council Reports inquiries briefings and presentations. This role requires political acumen and awareness housing expertise critical thinking and public engagement and communications experience.
