Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Retirement Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations compliance and communication related to the companys 401(k) plan ensuring it adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements and plan documents in the United States and Canada. This role will have some benefits financial and compliance responsibilities as well.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fiduciary Responsibilities. Acting in the best interest of plan participants ensuring compliance with ERISA and all applicable laws and properly partnering with third parties to properly manage plan assets and operations.
  • Plan Administration.
    • Must ensure that Company processes are consistent with underlying plan documents so that the retirement plans operate in accordance with plan terms.
    • Must work with Company internal and external resources / vendors so that accurate records of contributions withdrawals and investments are maintained to ensure compliance and facilitate accurate reporting.
    • Must ensure that participant contributions are deposited into the 401(k) plan promptly and accurately and that the Company contributions are made timely.
    • Will support outside plan vendors in the handling of plan distributions and contributions according to plan documents.
    • Must ensure that all required notices and disclosures are provided to participants.
  • Investment Management. Support and guide the 401(k) committee in partnership with our third-party administrators advisers and co-fiduciaries to choose investments that are appropriate for the plans objectives and participants needs monitoring investment performance and ensuring outfitters have access to clear and concise information on their investment options.
  • Compliance and Reporting. Responsible for performing annual compliance testing filing form 5500 and maintaining proper documentation of all plan activities including contributions withdrawals and investments.
  • Participant Support. Work with the plan third party administrator in the review and rollout of participant education and information as well as supporting basic Q&A needs.
  • Financial Operational Duties - This position will be responsible for other related operational duties as assigned such as benefit compliance flexible spending account management and oversight of costs associated with various benefits programs ensuring they are within budget and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Plan Changes. Make recommendations to management regarding changes to the retirement plans either as required by law or to advance the Companys financial needs or the needs of our outfitters.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelors Degree
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelors Degree in finance business administration human resources or a related field (if applicable)
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) or other relevant retirement plan certifications preferred.
  • Years of experience: minimum of 2-3 years of experience in retirement plan administration preferably with 401(k) plans.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Strong understanding of ERISA 401(k) plan regulations and best practices in retirement plan administration.
  • Must have excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position requires minimal travel. May be required to travel to Canada if needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly sits and does computer work.

Occasionally walks and stands.

Seldom/Never lifts up to 50 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
