Company Description: NAMI San Diego/Imperial Counties (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nonprofit organization that provides free education support services and advocacy to improve the quality of life of everyone affected by mental illnesses.
Primary Responsibilities/Function: The Director of Clubhouses plans organizes and directs the day-to-day operations of the Department to ensure contract compliance goal attainment and/or meeting benchmarks. The Department focuses on the operation of Mental Health Clubhouses (3 of our current 5 clubhouses) that follow the Clubhouse International model of operation. The Director is responsible for collaborating with executive team on overall strategic planning and openly communicating program personnel and contract status. They are also accountable for personnel management contract and budget compliance and will provide leadership with the program design-funding-implementation-evaluation cycle.
Clubhouses are located in El Cajon Chula Vista and Central San Diego area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruits supervises trains and recognizes department staff.
- Evaluates the design development and coordination of projects. Provides leadership direction and sets the tone for the department. Leads meetings and committees.
- Oversees quality of NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties department services in coordination with other departments.
- Assures appropriate compliance by completing budgetary reports employee documentation and records plus leads department strategic planning process as a part of the NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties overall planning.
- Participates in the research design and writing of public and private funding applications.
- Participates in the community relations efforts of NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties.
- Participates as a member of the senior management team in the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and procedures to contribute to NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties overall success.
- Attends required training provides/secures training for employees and ensures timely completion of training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Accountability: Reports to Managing Director of Programs.

Minimum Requirements including linguistic and cultural skills education experiences licenses and certifications:
- Experience as a mental health care advocate for self or family members is strongly preferred.
- A strong positive viewpoint towards mental health is essential.
- Bachelors Degree in relevant field preferred (Social Work Psychology Community Education Advocacy/Activism) or clearly demonstrated equivalent work experience in the field. Masters preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a key leadership role preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Significant experience working with homeless populations individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
- Ability and willingness to mentor and motivate with strong training skills.
- Excellent planning organizing analyzing problem solving time management coordinating and detail-oriented skills.
- Budget management knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations plus the ability and desire to work as part of a team.
- Ability to keep confidential information confidential and discrete.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Ability to present information to donors and potential donors public groups employees and the Board of Directors. Attentive listener.
- Willingness to support NAMI San Diego & Imperial County mission and values.
- Ability to drive with a valid drivers license auto insurance and access to use of an automobile as needed.
- Reliable and consistent attendance and transportation.
- Proficient in using computers computer software (Microsoft Office: Outlook Word Excel) and web navigation.
