The Elementary Bilingual Specialist position is designed for the master teacher who
strives to positively impact classroom success. The primary purpose of the specialist
is to improve the delivery of the state standards and ensure the district instructional
framework is delivered with efficacyfor Emergent Bilingual students. The Elementary
Bilingual Specialist under the direction of district leadership will support classroom
teachers campus instructional coaches campus administration and district specialists
to strengthen instruction and increase student learning. The specialist will be directed
by data and provide coachingand professional development on the instructional frames
as supported by instructionalrounds. This position will be required to have a strong
knowledge of second languageacquisition biliteracy best practices for Emergent Bilingual
studentscross linguistic/cross-cultural strategiesand thedigital learner both adult and
student.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification
Masters degree preferred
Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.
Five years experience as a classroom teacher
Classroom coaching experience
Experience in a STAAR-tested grade level
Curriculum Writing experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Understanding of Bilingual/Dual Language curriculum instruction and assessment
Ability to build capacity with campus leadership
Ability to coach/mentor teachers and campus administrators in the needs of our
Emergent Bilingual students
Ability to evaluate classroom instruction and teaching effectiveness
Ability to coordinate district functions
Ability to interpret policy procedures and data
Excellent organization communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to coach with a strong understanding of research-based biliteracy instructional
methodology
Strong content knowledge
Experience with developing and delivering professional learning
Strong technology skills including technology integration
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Program Management
1. Assist in the development and adaptation of bilingual/dual language
curriculum materials.
2. Collaborate with instructional teams to integrate culturally relevant and
linguistically appropriate content
3. Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on dual
language education strategies
4. Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) to promote
collaborative planning and reflection.
5. Provide ongoing support to teachers through workshops coaching cycles
and feedback sessions.
6. Analyze student performance data including STAAR TELPAS and
formative assessments to identify areas for improvement.
7. Collaborate with teachers to set measurable goals and monitor student
progress.

9. Models district-supported instructional strategies/lessons based on Content
Based Language Instruction (CBLI) cross-linguistic connections and bridging
from Spanish to English.
10. Promotes and integrates technology when coaching instruction.
11. Work closely with campus and district administrators.
12. Maintain confidentiality with student and teacher information.
13. Act as a liaison between campus and Director of Multilingual Programs.
14. Maintain a coaching cycle of Training Modeling Co-teach Observation and
Reflection.
15. Track Emergent Bilingual student progress and use data to make instructional
and assessment decisions.
16. Attendance is an essential job function.
17. Generate distrit translations and serve as a district interpreter when needed.
18. Other duties as assigned.
