Our West Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) Business includes multiple operations across the Pilbara
Our Health Safety Security and Emergency Management Function provides support across the entire Asset with Safety being a critical element of the services provided. Reporting to our Safety Superintendent we are currently seeking a Principal Safety based in Perth to join the HSS team and support our operations across WAIO. You will be a key member in a team of dedicated HSS professionals in this complex diverse and rewarding setting.
This is a great opportunity to join the team as a Principal to provide input into the development and improvement of a safety framework that enables BHP to deliver on the Charter Values of doing what is right seeking better ways and making a difference across WAIO.
The role will be offered as a 12-month secondment or a 12-month fixed term contract with regular site travel and flexible working options being available. The opportunity requires you to provide leadership coaching strategic direction and expert support on the BHP safety management systems and processes relating to the WAIO Asset.
In this role you will:
You will have substantial safety operational experience preferably in the mining oil and gas or similar industry. You have also demonstrated success as a leader in the delivery of safety outcomes as a functional specialist through diverse teams across multiple geographies operations / projects and jurisdictions.
You have strong project management skills (preferably trained in Six Sigma) and expertise in safety processes systems and performance measures and have proven contribution in delivering safety improvement initiatives and mastery of relevant tools for safety excellence (e.g. Risk Management and Incident Investigation). Your technical strengths and exceptional content knowledge will be complemented by your excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
This is a challenging role and will require an experienced person preferably with tertiary qualifications in Safety or a related field.
