JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:Two years of study at an institution of higher education as evidenced by four semesters of college with 12 or more credits per semester; or an associates (or higher) degree; or high school diploma or equivalent including successfully passing an academic assessment in the areas of reading writing and mathematics. Basic knowledge of computer programs is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain high expectations for all students.
- Assist the teacher(s) with planning for and implementation of instruction and assessment for students.
- Conduct individual and group intervention that aligns to student need.
- Maintain positive and effective classroom management procedures in compliance with school and district guidelines.
- Attend training to support the implementation of appropriate and effective behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Monitor student behavior and adjust support based on data and individual student need.
- Maintain appropriate and up-to-date student records pertaining to grades behavior and other required documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pupil information in accordance with district policies.
- Attend parent meetings maintain appropriate communication to assist the teacher(s) in promoting student success as a shared responsibility.
- Assist the teacher(s) with problem-solving and character-development lessons to promote positive self-esteem and appropriate decision making skills.
- Assist the teacher(s) in promoting the development of leadership skills in each student.
- Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities district trainings and extracurricular activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
