Job Title: Safeguarding Manager

Department: Core

Reports to: Senior Safeguarding Manager

Salary: 32000-35000 per annum (depending on experience)

This responsibility is shared by all staff and volunteers at the club safeguarding is everyones responsibility. Staff will be required to undertake regular safeguarding training to enable and reinforce a proactive approach to safeguarding. This role requires the post holder to apply all relevant policies and uphold the clubs commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people to ensure a safe environment for all. General Trust Accountabilities

  • To ensure compliance with all relevant policies including health and safety and safeguarding policies

  • To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Brentford FC Community Sports Trust
  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Trust and its personnel
  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times

Main Purpose of Job

The Safeguarding Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest safeguarding standards across all departments at the Trust. This includes safeguarding across all activities staff inductions and ongoing training collaboration with media and communications teams and all operational activities.

Reporting to the Trust Senior Safeguarding Manager the Safeguarding Manager will take a leadership role in embedding safeguarding policies and practices into the day-to-day operations of the Trust ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and creating a safe environment for all stakeholders.

The role will also work with the wider Safeguarding team within Brentford FC to ensure that close collaboration is maintained between our two organisations.

Flexibility is required for some evening activities and occasional weekend work with some occasional travel for Trust events tours or other safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Safeguarding Manager to strengthen and embed safeguarding processes across the organisation ensuring the highest standards for safeguarding vulnerable groups policies practices and good practice guidelines.
  • To deputise for the Senior Safeguarding Manager where required
  • Work in collaboration with Recruitment Training & Development Senior Manager to organise deliver and record relevant safeguarding training for colleagues trustees and volunteers in line with their level of role responsibility and engagement with children and/or adults at risk. Ensure learning is shared across the organisation.
  • Work in collaboration with the HR team to support with safeguarding processes including safer recruitment and HR/Safeguarding related training.
  • Lead on responding to safeguarding concerns incidents or allegations escalating where necessary and ensuring proper recording and reporting procedures are followed under the direction of the Trust Senior Safeguarding Manager.
  • Provide operational safeguarding support to all Trust activities ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Support the team of departmental DSOs by providing guidance and advice to strengthen safeguarding awareness across all areas.
  • Promote a safeguarding culture within the Trust by raising awareness of policies procedures and reporting mechanisms
  • Conduct spot checks and carry out evaluative measures on safeguarding practices across Trust programmes.
  • Report on a regular basis to the Trust Senior Safeguarding Manager and provide advice on any progress issues that arise or project work as required
  • Support the Trust Senior Safeguarding Manager with annual audit and any implementation of any recommendations arising.
  • Give direction and guidance to staff in respect of all safeguarding incidents concerns or allegations.
  • Complete recognised and relevant FA and Premier League qualifications alongside CPD training on safeguarding legislation and good practice as required.
  • Support with safeguarding team administration.
  • Represent Trust at external events as required

The Selection Criteria Essential

  • Proven experience managing safeguarding in a professional environment ideally within sport entertainment or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation statutory guidance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills including experience delivering training and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in safeguarding with relevant safeguarding qualifications.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion professionalism and empathy.
  • Strong organisational skills including the ability to prioritise manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a safeguarding role within a sports organisation event management or hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of working in a highly regulated environment such as sport or education.
  • Knowledge of Premier League Charitable Fund safeguarding standards and requirements.
  • Experience working in a high-profile organisation with public-facing responsibilities.
  • Additional certifications such as Mental Health First Aid.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings occasional weekends and occasional travel.
