Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Utilities and Piping Estimator to join our team in Charlotte NC. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for underground utilities site piping and related civil infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in estimating for municipal commercial and/or industrial utility work including water sewer storm drain and gas piping systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze blueprints specifications proposals and other documentation to prepare time cost and labor estimates.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Quantify materials and labor required for utility installations including water sewer storm drain and gas lines.
- Collaborate with project managers engineers and field teams to develop accurate budgets and bid proposals.
- Attend pre-bid meetings site visits and assist in project handoff after award.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local codes regulations and industry best practices.
- Track historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy and support project costing efforts.
Qualifications:
- 3 7 years of experience in estimating utilities piping or civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of underground utility systems trenching and civil sitework.
- Proficient with estimating software (e.g. HCSS HeavyBid Agtek Bluebeam or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent math and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Bachelor s degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
