The Ride Engineer is responsible for overseeing monitoring and expediting the design development and delivery of ride components and systems under contract with vendor(s).
Responsibilities
- Responsible for scope development bid & award monitoring and progress of design fabrication and installation and testing by vendor for ride systems and related equipment. Reviews and evaluates activities of vendor and its sub-contractors on an ongoing basis with regard to product quality and compliance to specifications to ensure technical integrity and creative intent is met
- Manages in-field installation test and adjustment of ride systems to ensure compliance with contract specifications. Works with Facility & Construction team and contractors to ensure a clear line of communication regarding installation test and adjust.
- Provides oversight field coordination and direction for the installation of ride systems equipment and components as designated by Project Management Team.
- Manages the relevant show budget throughout design fabrication and installation
- Manages and coordinates Vendor preliminary and final facility interfaces of ride systems equipment and components.
- Develops and/or manage detailed coordinated schedules for all work by vendor identifying and managing critical path and resource issues. Leads production status and schedules reviews ensuring coordination with Project Team and Facilities Team. Monitors all budgetary production expenses for assigned contracts for the attraction. Manages the schedule of the contracted scope of work through project completion identifying risks & opportunities forecasting and communicating schedule impacts of decisions.
- Advises coordinates and is accountable to the Technical Director regarding the status and engineering quality of ride control systems including areas of risk or potential future risks.
- Manages the design and fabrication change process to accurately document contractual changes.
- Oversees fabrication of mock-up prototype and sample programs for Ride elements.
- Advises coordinates and reviews facility design drawings to ensure that all facility interface requirements are captured in architectural documents.
- Validates that the facility interface is installed per plan prior to Show Equipment installation.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Parks and Resorts policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.

Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering Project or Industrial Management required or 4 years equivalent experience
- Proficiency in reading and understanding mechanical and architectural drawings and technical documents.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Proficiency in generating and analyzing data in spread sheets.
- Analytical skills to perform basic engineering calculations for design and test of mechanical systems.
- Basic awareness of design for welded structures/joints carpentry paint composite materials manufacturing and fabrication.
- Basic knowledge of common metals (carbon and alloy steels aluminum) and plastics/composites.
- Logical approach to problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities of mechanical and structural systems.
- Ability to read analyze interpret & follow pre-established Universal design specifications and industry standards (such as AWS ANSI and ASTM F24).
- Ability & willingness to work overtime weekends and holidays with short notice.
- Excellent organizational verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present findings to a group of people with varying levels of engineering knowledge.
- Ability to work autonomously and in teams. Strong team player. Self-motivated.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple competing tasks and/or responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook
- 3-5 Years Design production and project/contract management.
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
Desired Characteristics:
- 3-5 Years Field construction operation support with 1-2 years specific to the theme park industry preferred (medical centers data centers automated factories or other similar highly specialized facilities also a plus).
- Knowledge of ASTM F24 standards AWS D1 and relevant ASME/ASTM/ANSI standards.
- Proficiency in mechanical drawing software such as Navisworks Revit Solidworks and AutoCAD
