Job Description
We are working closely alongside with London Borough of Islington to assist with the appointment of a Building Surveyor- Legal Disrepair on a 3-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 31.89 - 41.76 per hour
Summary:
The Building Surveyor Legal Disrepair is responsible for managing a varied caseload including live disrepair claims party wall matters repair diagnostics and referrals. The role involves conducting inspections specifying and overseeing works and advising on legal cases including giving expert evidence in court.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and diagnose building defects prepare detailed specifications and feasibility studies.
- Manage disrepair claims including responding to legal challenges and avoiding liability where possible.
- Develop team procedures and contribute to service improvement with the Senior Legal Repairs Surveyor.
- Administer contracts ensure compliance with regulations and monitor contractors work.
- Liaise with legal teams and maintain excellent communication across departments.
Qualifications:
- HND/C in Building with relevant post-qualification experience or
- BSc in Building Surveying with post-qualification experience or
- Equivalent extensive experience in building surveying
Essentials:
- Experience managing technical caseloads and disrepair claims.
- Proficient in writing specifications bills of quantities valuations and work programmes.
- In-depth knowledge of housing disrepair legislation building codes and contract law.
- Supervisory experience and ability to deputise for senior surveyors as needed.

- This role requires an Basic DBS
