Sydney Water is seeking both aCommercial Manager & Contracts Manager ideally with backgrounds inWater Infrastructure Projects other infrastructure and/or Construction Projects. We need your skills and expertise to help Sydney Water deliver a $34 billion dollar investment program over the next 10 years to build maintain and protect the future of our iconic water resources.

About the Commercial Manager role:

In this role the Commercial Manager will be responsible for the provision of commercial oversight strategic advice and to deliver commercial services to the Program Delivery portfolio to drive commercial performance and decision making and value-for-money across the Sydney Water Infrastructure Investment Program. This role will lead a specialised team of contract managers and senior contract administrators and will manage commercial contracts up to $1 billion in value.

About you:

  • 8 years contract and commercial management experience in construction and infrastructure projects in a large complex organisation preferably in a similar organisation or industry sectors such as civil rail mining oil and gas
  • Relevant work experience for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors in addition to client side
  • Experience managing commercial contracts from $300M to $1 Billion
  • Strong understanding of construction transaction and delivery models
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with the business in effective contract and commercial management strategies
  • Ability to partner closely with the business while maintaining a degree of functional independence
  • Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying Construction Management Law Business and engineering
  • Experience in commercial management in design and construction and/or maintenance delivery within the infrastructure/utilities sectors
  • NEC4 experience is preferable

About the Contracts Manager role:

This role leads thecommercial stream of Program Delivery transaction andmanages the contract and commercial negotiation during Program Delivery transactions to ensure value for money is achieved while mitigating commercial risk by applying dispute avoidance strategies and lessons learned on Contract Manager will work in collaboration with Program Delivery Senior Commercial Manager and be the first point of call for all commercial matters.

You will:

  • Lead development and management of commercial agreement for Program Delivery that balance a range of objectives namely value for money on time delivery risk management sound process and efficiency
  • Manage the contract management requirement of the project and be the lead for commercial matters acting as a single point of contact for all commercial matters in procurement and contract requirements within the nominated Program Delivery team
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships within nominated portfolio of Program Delivery
  • Assist with drafting finalise and seek approval on Contract Management Plans including meeting cadence and detail
  • Manageactivities in Contract variations administration and dispute management
  • Manage monthly reporting for allocated Projects
  • Identify record and escalate contract risks and issues in the Risk Register

We are looking for individuals Coming from a demonstrated background in contract and commercial management in high-value high-riskconstruction and infrastructure projects you have a strong understanding of Construction Law and prior experience managing high-performing teams. You have excellent stakeholder engagement skills with both internal and external suppliers including an ability to influence key stakeholders.

You must have:

  • A relevant degree qualification ( SurveyingConstruction ManagementConstruction LawEngineering Business) or experience deemed equivalent
  • ProfessionalMRICs or equivalentqualification
  • 10 yearscontract and commercial managementexperience inconstruction and infrastructure projectsin a large complex organisation preferably in a similar organisation or industry sector
  • Relevant work experience for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors in addition to client-side
  • Strong communication skill with ability to convene complex commercialmatters through reports and presentations
