Job Description:
Fire test all initiating supervisory and notification devices (8000 campus wide) air handler shut down relays elevator recall and shunt trip sensitivity testing all door releases battery load test for panels verify proper device locations and descriptions verify systems are reporting to 24 hour monitoring stations per NFPA 72 and JCHAO verify remote annunciation campus wide. Maintain and document test results and records of each Life Safety System test. Modification of normal working hours (40 hrs) onto any shift any day of the week to meet institutional needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a High School diploma or GED
Department of Labor or equivalent journeyman Electronic Technician certificate or associates degree or technical school certification and four (4) or more years related experience.
Knowledge of electrical wiring systems; ability to apply principles to solve a variety of electrical problems
Must have an understanding of building layout terminology and university policy and procedures
Ability to use math in the use of Ohms Law and understand manuals and verbal instructions (technical in nature)
State license in fire alarm testing required ***Jerry see second 5/8/25 comment in this section Jason asked..**
Valid drivers license and insurability under UT driving policies
Must be physically cable of performing the duties of the position. Ability to lift carry and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Communication and other skills:
Verbal skills to communicate with staff patients family members and management
Verbal skills to communicate with other trades contractors and work control
Must have the ability to as well as meet the requirements to complete and maintain mandatory training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein.
