Job Description

Position Title:

Assistant Coach Softball

Job Summary:

The Athletics Department at Marist University invites applications for a full-time 12-month position as Assistant Coach Softball. The assistant coach is responsible for the practice & game plan preparation and the preparation coordination & execution of practice plans during the academic year. The position is responsible for the identification research of and communication with prospective student-athletes during the calendar year. The assistant coach will also assist in the academic personal and career mentoring of student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid drivers license with no serious convictions
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Ability to pass the NCAA Recruiting Test

Essential Functions:

Recruit athletes to Marist University by:

  • Researching the tournaments showcases high school games tryouts and other relevant recruiting opportunities of prospective student-athletes.
  • Preparing and coordinating the recruiting calendar and accommodations in accordance with the NCAA MAAC (for all sports but Football) Pioneer League (Football only) and institution regulations.
  • Evaluating prospective student-athletes by traveling to the tournaments showcases high school games tryouts and other relevant recruiting opportunities during permissible recruiting periods.
  • Conducting appropriate communication with coaches prospective student-athletes and parents.
  • Coordinating and executing official and unofficial visits to campus for prospective student- athletes and their families
  • Active participant in all NCAA rules education programs.

Provide mentoring to student-athletes inside and outside of practice on their academic personal civic and career aspirations for the future.

Assist the Head Coach in developing the game strategy and designing effective and efficient training and practices for both the team and individual student-athlete by:

  • Formulating effective game plans for competition.
  • Conducting individual and small group training sessions.
  • Conducting comprehensive film review from practices and games.
  • Preparing daily team practice plans.
  • Working games and practices.

Proficient in recruiting software.

Adept at running camps and clinics.

Fundraising experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree

    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee spouse and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
