Job Description
Mount Alvernia Academy a Catholic Franciscan coed school educating children from Preschool through Grade 6 is seeking a first-grade homeroom teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a full-time position. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in teaching methods and educational pedagogy as well as prior teaching experience in an elementary school setting. All applicants must have a love and respect for students and be committed to instilling a passion for learning in each and Requirements: cultivate a joyful vibrant inclusive and welcoming classroom community supported by strong classroom management skills; demonstrate excellent written and verbal competencies; have excellent organizational skills; have the ability to multitask; partner with grade-level colleagues in short and long term planning of curriculum be able to coordinate projects and schedules in a fast-paced environment; be a positive team player with a desire to contribute and share his/her gifts and talents with students and the administration of the school; communicate and collaborate effectively with students families and colleagues; follow established curriculum; must demonstrate an understanding of how students learn to read and a knowledge of the five critical areas of reading instruction; evaluate students academic and social growth keep appropriate records prepare narrative comments and conduct parent conferences; differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of learners across all core subjects; and participate in professional learning communities grade-level activities and school-wide functions; supervise and engage with students in out-of-classroom activities during the day such as recess lunch and during field trips and other events; identify student needs and partner with learning specialist to support student growth and development ability and willingness to understand and support the social emotional and academic needs of first-grade attendance is a necessary function. Consistent reliable and punctual attendance is essential for the supervision and instruction of the students. While performing the duties of this job the teacher is frequently required to kneel stoop bend and/or crouch. The teacher is periodically required to stand while talking and listening.
