Social Security Scotland is seeking two new colleagues to fill Monetary Value of Fraud and Error Measurement Fieldwork Officer roles within the Fraud and Error Unit (FERU).The Units mission is to identify address and prevent fraud and error ensuring the integrity of benefit delivery and supporting public trust in our services.

As a Measurement Fieldwork Officer you will contribute to the safeguarding of vital resources for the people of Scotland who need them. You will develop a wide range of knowledge of all of Social Security Scotlands benefits and be involved in exciting and high-profile work. You will gather information to support estimation of the value of fraud and error actively seeking out opportunities to identify any cases requiring correction handing over to the appropriate teams to action whilst also contributing to suggested controls to facilitate continuous improvement. In addition you will have the opportunity to engage closely with colleagues across Social Security Scotland.

  • Carrying out designated sample review work over the Monetary Value of Fraud and Error (MVFE) review period. This process will involve a full end-to-end review of all designated cases within a set review week to establish the monetary value of fraud and error in the benefit caseload.
  • Seeking to understand the root cause of errors and fraud as well as identifying common trends taking appropriate action to rectify and collaborate in the development of artefacts processes preventative measures and guidance.
  • Ensuring that risks trends and payment corrections are handed off to appropriate teams for resolution.
  • Consulting with peers to resolve complex cases.
  • Raising awareness to managers of new and emerging risks found during review work.
  • Continuously developing knowledge and expertise in the wide range of benefits administered by Social Security Scotland as well as the teams and processes that support delivery of these.

Working Pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices.
