All of this comes while gaining hands-on experience and exposure to the wastewater field.
DESCRIPTION OF THE APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY
This paid apprenticeship is open to current and former foster youth age 18 and older. As a Maintenance and Construction Apprentice youll gain 18 months of hands-on experience working on a variety of real-world maintenance and construction projects. From day one youll be part of a supportive safety-conscious team that will help you develop marketable skills and position you for future career success.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
No Prior Experience Needed: This entry-level position is designed to help you build foundational skills under the general supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor with technical guidance from a Lead or Senior Maintenance and Construction Worker. You will not be expected to provide direct supervision or technical guidance. LACSD will provide all necessary training.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES THAT YOU WILL LEARN AND ASSIST WITH INCLUDE:
Equipment Repair & Maintenance
Involves maintaining and restoring key mechanical components on Districts vehicles and equipmentsuch as clutches flights drive chains pumps and gear unitsto support efficient facility operations. This may include replacing worn parts (e.g. bearings seals impellers) and other related maintenance tasks.
