Job Description

Having established an iconic Food Hall Market in London KERB is bringing its street food magic to the Berlin food scene with the grand opening of their first ever European Food Hall in Berlin. KERB is a business that powers other businesses. We focus on the incubation and growth of innovative independent food businesses. We run brilliant street food markets workshops consultancy bars a food hall in Central London and have developed a growing successful corporate catering company KERB Events Limited. Be it food entrepreneurs or team members our mission is to create opportunity and joy through great food from the KERB up.

Tasks

As a Senior Kitchen Porter at KERB Berlin youll play a pivotal role in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes! Youll take full ownership of the KP area and waste rooms ensuring everything is organised efficient and compliant with health and safety regulations. Alongside this youll demonstrate effective supervision of the Kitchen Porter Team ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard motivating and setting a good example at all times liaising with management where necessary. Youll support management with making sure that breaks are taken at appropriate times. Additionally making sure that trays glasses utensils and equipment are spotless and ready for restocking for the traders. Youll help maintain the high operational standards set by KERB and the venue management team keeping the back-of-house areas in top shape. This role is on a rota basis covering all exciting trading periods at KERB Berlin.

Responsibilities

  • Daily set up & shut down of the KP area inline with company standards & daily checklists
  • Full accountability of washing/drying/polishing & replenishing all:
  • Equipment pots & utensils
  • Venue serviceware & cutlery
  • Venue Glassware
  • Waste management
  • Weekly deep cleaning jobs
  • Ensure proper use of recycling & food waste systems
  • Oversee correct usage of both waste rooms
  • Shift leading - ensuring that the Kitchen is prepared for service and closed down and cleaned properly at the end of the shift
  • Training new and existing team members to the highest standard and ensuring maintenance of these standards
  • Supporting management with allocation of breaks and people management of the KP team
  • Assisting and working alongside management to drive the business aims and escalate issues when they occur
  • Assist and motivate Kitchen Porter team escalating issues/concerns where appropriate
  • Maintaining the venues recycling procedures in-line with KERBs sustainability initiatives and disposing of waste in the correct places
  • Exemplary organisational and cleanliness standards
  • Ensure good communication and maintain professional relationships with peers
  • Work with management team and Traders to ensure appropriate use of team resources - making sure everyone plays their part
  • Set a great example and become ambassador for KERB and the Kitchen Porter team

Requirements

What youll bring to KERB

  • The ability to manage tasks effectively and adapt to different situations with a focus on problem-solving and creative thinking.
  • Effective team management skills ideally with prior experience supervising or managing a team
  • Experience in fast-paced high-demand environments.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding hospitality and ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with ease in engaging with guests and team members.
  • Previous experience in hospitality is an advantage but not essential.
