Overview
The TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) English Teacher plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive learning environment for students at the secondary level. This position focuses on developing students proficiency in English language skills literature analysis and critical thinking abilities. A TGT English Teacher is responsible for creating engaging lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards while addressing individual student needs. The role involves motivating students to express themselves effectively appreciate literature and develop a lifelong passion for reading and writing. Additionally the TGT English Teacher collaborates with colleagues engages with parents and contributes to the overall academic environment of the school ensuring that students attain their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
- Teach English language including grammar vocabulary reading comprehension and writing skills.
- Introduce classic and contemporary literature and facilitate discussions on themes and characters.
- Assess student performance through regular tests assignments and projects.
- Monitor and support individual student progress offering additional help when needed.
- Develop creative teaching materials incorporating technology and multimedia resources.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding students progress and areas for improvement.
- Enhance student engagement via interactive activities such as debates group work and presentations.
- Participate in professional development workshops to stay updated with latest educational trends.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate cross-curricular themes in lessons.
- Participate in school activities such as parent-teacher meetings and curricular events.
- Encourage students to engage in extracurricular activities related to English like drama or writing clubs.
- Maintain an organized and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Address any challenges or disciplinary issues promptly and effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in English Education or a related field.
- Teaching certification or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as a secondary school teacher preferably in English.
- Strong understanding of English literature and language principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt to various learning styles.
- Experience with assessment techniques and educational technologies.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively maintaining discipline and respect.
