Overview
The Orthopedic Surgeon plays a critical role in the healthcare system by diagnosing and treating a range of musculoskeletal conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose musculoskeletal conditions through physical examinations and imaging studies.
- Perform surgical procedures including arthroscopy joint replacement and fracture repair.
- Develop individualized treatment plans in consultation with patients.
- Evaluate and manage post-operative care to ensure optimal recovery.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with patients to monitor progress.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in orthopedic procedures and techniques.
- Educate patients about their conditions and treatment options.
- Supervise and mentor residents and junior doctors.
- Participate in the hospitals quality assurance and audit activities.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding surgical risks and benefits.
- Perform non-surgical treatments such as injections or physical therapy referrals.
- Participate in community outreach and health education programs.
- Provide expertise in trauma-related orthopedic cases in the emergency department.
- Maintain professional development and participate in continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS) from a recognized institution.
- Postgraduate degree in Orthopedic Surgery (MS/DNB).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in orthopedic surgery.
- Valid medical registration and licensure to practice in Maharashtra.
- Strong foundational knowledge in musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology.
- Experience in a broad range of surgical techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare technology.
