We are seeking a seasoned Statistical Process Control (SPC) Consultant to work with our manufacturing clients on an as-needed contract basis. The consultant will be responsible for designing implementing and optimizing SPC systems to improve production quality reduce variability and drive continuous improvement across diverse manufacturing environments.
This role demands a pragmatic results-driven expert with deep knowledge of industrial data analysis root cause methodologies and quality control strategies. Youll work closely with client engineering and operations teams either remotely or on-site to embed sustainable SPC practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess existing manufacturing processes and quality systems for statistical control effectiveness.
* Design and implement SPC frameworks including control charting capability analysis and real-time monitoring.
* Develop data collection strategies aligned with key quality characteristics and process parameters.
* Train client teams on interpreting control charts conducting root cause analysis and responding to process variation.
* Support integration of SPC within Quality Management Systems (QMS) including documentation and compliance protocols.
* Provide technical leadership on tools such as Pareto analysis histograms ANOVA Cpk/Ppk and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Recommend and help implement SPC software tools (e.g. Minitab JMP InfinityQS Q-DAS).
* Contribute to broader Continuous Improvement initiatives such as Lean DMAIC and Kaizen events when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
* Minimum 8 years of experience applying SPC in a manufacturing environment (discrete or process manufacturing).
* Advanced knowledge of control charts process capability data normality and statistical inference.
* Hands-on familiarity with common SPC software tools and data visualization platforms.
* Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with client teams.
* U.S. work authorization and ability to travel occasionally for on-site projects.
Preferred Qualifications
* Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt) or equivalent.
* Background in regulated industries such as aerospace automotive medical device or food manufacturing.
* Experience supporting APQP PPAP FMEA or IATF 16949 frameworks.
* Proficiency in SQL or scripting languages (e.g. Python/R) for statistical data manipulation.
