Role: z/OS Performance Monitoring Specialist
Work location: Remote US.
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled z/OS Performance Monitoring Specialist to support a critical migration project transitioning from CA NetMaster to the IBM OMEGAMON Network Monitoring suite. This role plays a vital part in enhancing our enterprise system monitoring capabilities and ensuring optimal performance of our mainframe infrastructure. The specialist will work within the z/OS systems team contributing to the modernization and integration of performance tools ensuring high availability efficiency and actionable insight across mainframe environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the migration of network monitoring from CA NetMaster to IBM OMEGAMON Network solutions.
- Configure maintain and optimize IBM OMEGAMON monitoring tools across various mainframe components.
- Collaborate with systems programmers network engineers and application support teams to define and implement monitoring best practices.
- Integrate monitoring tools with enterprise management systems for centralized visibility.
- Develop and maintain documentation for tool configurations migration procedures and operational standards.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams regarding OMEGAMON usage and monitoring strategies.
- Monitor performance trends and proactively identify system issues recommending enhancements.
What are the Mandatory skills and skill proficiencies required for this position
- Migration from CA NetMaster to OMEGAMON Network Advanced expertise in managing end-to-end migration including planning validation and support.
- OMEGAMON Monitor for z/OS Proficiency in system-level performance monitoring and threshold management.
- IBM Z OMEGAMON for CICS Intermediate knowledge of monitoring CICS transactions and region performance.
What are the Optional skills and skill proficiencies for this position
- IBM OMEGAMON for DB2 Performance Expert on z/OS Experience in analyzing DB2 subsystem metrics and tuning performance.
- IBM OMEGAMON for Messaging on z/OS Familiarity with monitoring IBM MQ environments and message flow.
- IBM Z OMEGAMON Integration Monitor Working knowledge of unified monitoring dashboards and cross-product integration.
- IBM Z NetView Network Management Facility Understanding of automation and network event management for z/OS.
- IBM Sterling Connect Direct Control Center Monitor (ICCM) Basic experience monitoring file transfer activities and statuses.
