Job Description

Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Vessel Designer/Checker to lead and verify the design of pressure vessels heat exchangers and related equipment for oil & gas manufacturing projects. This role is responsible for ensuring detailed engineering drawings and models meet industry codes company standards and client specifications. You will collaborate with engineers project managers and fabrication teams to deliver high-quality manufacturable designs.



Requirements


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of detailed fabrication drawings for ASME Section VIII pressure vessels tanks and other static equipment.
  • Perform thorough checks of vessel drawings and 3D models for accuracy completeness and compliance with engineering standards and regulatory codes (e.g. ASME CSA ABSA).
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
  • Review vendor drawings and fabrication deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to design standards material specifications tolerances and weld details.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to resolve design issues and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Interface with procurement and fabrication teams to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency of vessel designs.
  • Maintain document control revision history and quality assurance for issued drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and project meetings.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Mechanical Design/Drafting or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in pressure vessel design and drafting with at least 3 years in a senior or checking role.
  • Expert knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1 (Div. 2 an asset) and familiarity with CSA and ABSA regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor SolidWorks or similar CAD software; experience with PV Elite or COMPRESS preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in drawings and models.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Assets

  • Experience with modular skid packages heat exchangers or vessel internals.
  • Previous experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and document management platforms (e.g. Vault SharePoint).
