This position will serve as an integral member of the Legal and Compliance team supporting the organizations strategy for global import compliance. Reporting to the Senior Director Trade Compliance this position will have a direct role in the development of the organizations global trade compliance controls processes and solutions across the company. This position will be responsible for collaborating with key functional areas to ensure organizational compliance including Operations Supply Chain and Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Establish implement and maintain processes and standards for assuring trade compliance.
- Work cross-functionally to develop and implement trade compliance solutions that generate efficiency.
- Provide subject-matter expertise and guidance on relevant trade matters including without limitation U.S. and international Customs/import regulations PGA/OGA USMCA CTPAT/OEA and Mexicos IMMEX program.
- Stay up to date on changes in Customs/import and export regulations and ensure the Company modifies processes standards metrics and reporting to comply with relevant standards and requirements.
- Prepare and present periodic reporting to key stakeholders and driving collaboration between the business and compliance departments.
- Drive expansion of the use of automated systems and technology to implement controls conduct risk assessments and conduct training.
- Ensure that record management and retention systems are further developed updated and maintained.
- Lead specialty task forces as needed.
- Develop and implement trade compliance training solutions.
- Engage with internal stakeholders on initiatives that affect trade and where trade matters may impact strategy.
- Provide regular reports on the status of global trade projects initiatives and outstanding matters.
- Lead and support trade compliance continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business excellence.
- Identify facilitate and manage execution of improvement projects fulfilling key breakthrough objectives.
- Own or provide leadership to others for projects from beginning to end - including discovery data collection development with feedback implementation and follow up.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in business administration international relations or related field.
- 10 years of experience in international trade with 5 years developing trade compliance programs.
- Licensed Customs Broker.
- Strong understanding of international trade law and compliance particularly in the USMCA region.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a variety of internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Experience with Lean principles and continuous improvement processes.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
