Job Description

Position Description:


The Early Childhood Support Technician supports the coordinated efforts of the Early Childhood
Department and Jefferson Parish Early Childhood Collaborative. The Early Childhood Support Technician
shall act as a representative of Jefferson Parish Schools and have the ability to communicate intelligently
with all stakeholders and vendors regarding policies and procedures of the department.

Reports To:
Director of Network Services


Scope of Responsibility:

  • Organizes plans and participates in preschool registration for all Early Childhood Programs
  • Reviews applications to determine eligibility for Early Childhood Programs
  • Prioritizes screens and distributes all telephone calls.
  • Tracks and maintains numbers of all early childhood students placed at each site in the district.
  • Coordinates Professional Development events for all Early Childhood related employees and the

Early Childhood Collaborative supporting partners including all preschool related trainings offered
for administrators teachers para-educators. Prepare handouts room reservation sign-in sheets etc.

  • Assists Director of Network Services and Executive Director of Early Childhood Programs with the completion of all LDOE reports including but not limited to TANF Child Count LA 4 8g and B-3 reports.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Network Services and Executive Director of Early Childhood Programs to ensure program guidelines and budgetary compliance is met for both regular and Special Education Early Childhood Programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Network Services and Executive Director of Early Childhood Programs

Skills and Qualifications:

student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful
candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:

  • Detail-oriented and independent self-starter.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in general office work and use of computers.
  • Data entry experience and working knowledge of MS Word Excel Google docs etc.
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Integrity initiative and good moral character. Ability to relate to students staff administration parents and community.
  • Possess desirable attributes of personality enthusiasm and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results.
  • Ability to be visionary and strategic is essential.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the organization and administration of the school system.
  • Working knowledge of Pre-K and early care and education systems.
  • Bilingual.


Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing walking
reaching bending lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to
schools work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations
including locations not on the ground floor.
