Job Duties
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the Reimbursement Technician II position at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Falls Church VA with hybrid telework options available. In this role the individual will work under minimal supervision to ensure maximum revenue collection for acute inpatient psychiatric services this includes billing for Medicare Medicare Advantage plans commercial insurance and Temporary Detention Orders (TDO) and utilizing an automated Practice Management System to manage accounts and streamline billing activities. This position is responsible for reviewing all aspects of third-party billing related to acute psychiatric hospitalizations from claim preparation through follow-up to ensure payments are received. This position also processes claims in both paper and electronic formats conducting third-party verifications and facilitating authorizations for patient hospital stays to ensure accurate documentation of eligibility and coverage.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of third-party insurance billing within a healthcare setting. Experience in automated accounts receivable processes. Experience in Medicaid/Medicare billing and/or claims. Proficiency in mathematical and analytical tasks is essential as is the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting work priorities. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
