Job Description

Position Title: Child Nutrition Cook

Reports to: Child Nutrition Manager and Principal

Department: Cafeteria

Position Category: Permanent/exempt/full-time/10 month contract

Position Summary: The Child Nutrition Cook is responsible for planning organizing and participating in the preparation cooking baking and serving of a variety of foods in the school cafeteria. The cook will work alongside the cafeteria manager to ensure the highest quality of foods is prepared and distributed to students and staff while maintaining proper health & safety standards.

Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan supervise and participate in the major cooking baking and serving tasks.
  • Assist with cleanliness of cafeteria
  • Partner with the Child Nutrition Manager to establish needed quantities; requisition food and supplies; maintain inventory.
  • Prepare and maintain records including factor sheets daily cash receipts and associated work sheets.
  • Substitute for the Child Nutrition Manager in his/her absence.
  • Create and maintain positive communication with students administration staff and faculty
  • Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes
  • Promote FWAFA in a positive manner within the school and community
  • Perform other duties as required

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:

Posture:Prolonged standing infrequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion:Frequent walking

Lifting:Infrequent light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)

Environment:Work is located on campus site; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands:Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours

Minimum Education Experience and Certification:

  • High school diploma preferred

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation procedures for food service
  • Sound judgement and dependability
  • Strong group management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
