Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential -

  • Collaborate with the Livestock judging team coach in the following:
    • Travel with the livestock judging team to contests and practices throughout the year.
    • Assist with livestock judging workouts and practices on a weekly basis.
    • Set-up/assist with judging workouts and practices weekly.
    • Assist with travel arrangements for judging trips contests and practices
    • Assist with Agriculture Department activities such as Kansas Beef Expo Kansas State Fair HutchCC Livestock Judging Classic NACTA and others.
    • Officiate livestock judging contests along with judging fairs and livestock shows.
  • Recruit students to the college of Agriculture programs and livestock judging team by visiting schools/campuses attending camps and national livestock shows and utilizing internet recruiting initiatives.
  • Maintain agriculture webpage.
  • Maintain agriculture presence on social media platforms.
  • Arrive on time for work attend work regularly and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies procedures and practices.

Secondary

  • May teach courses assigned in the Agriculture program.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Livestock Operations Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS (Essential):

  • Associate degree in Animal Science Agricultural Education or a related field
  • Experience in competitive Livestock Judging on the collegiate level (required)
  • Knowledge of collegiate Livestock Judging rules for events
  • Willingness to travel primarily weekends and provide driving and judging assistance
  • Excellent substantiated time-management research and organizational skills (required)
  • Ability to operate machinery safely and functionally
  • Train student worker on how to safely and successfully operate machinery
  • Basic computer skills inclusive of familiarity with MS Office Suite and website production
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional work relationships with many people
  • Ability to relate with students personally yet maintain professional relationships
  • Valid drivers license
  • Physical requirements include: ability to lift up to 50 pounds; excellent verbal written and listening communication skills; ability to operate motor vehicles; may require work in adverse weather conditions; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; Use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Medium/indoor/outdoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:

The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This part-time support staff position is ten months annual with 20 hours per week during the work agreement period nonexempt. This position is KPERS eligible but does not qualify for additional benefits.
