8:00a - 4:30 / Full Time / 40 Hours

The Respiratory Clinical Educator (RCE) leads and assists with the development design and implementation of the clinical orientation program for new employees; organizes and instructs in-services for staff. In addition the Respiratory Clinical Educator provides clinical instruction for students enrolled into affiliate Respiratory Care programs and ongoing education for all staff. The Respiratory Clinical Educator may also perform the duties of bedside Respiratory Care practitioner when called upon to do so. The Respiratory Clinical Educator leads the process of continuing education and utilizes specialized knowledge and skills that focuses on patient centered care.

  • Key Responsibility Category: Professional Development - Demonstrates strong knowledge and skills of all theories and practices in the field of Respiratory Care. Leads education for staff (i.e. Respiratory Care Practitioners Nurses Physicians etc.) on new equipment guidelines and clinical standards. Works with leader to formulate plan for professional development. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of clinical and scientific basis and effects of respiratory care procedures equipment and medications. Develops and implements action plans to achieve department educational goals.
  • Key Responsibility Category: Staff Resource - Promotes and encourages staff participation in continuing education programs and related activities. Assists with development delivery and coordination of a formal orientation program for new employees. Develops educational and learning resource materials related to the clinical specialty and the defined needs of respiratory care staff patients family or community. Assists with research initiatives as applicable. Serves as a resource for respiratory care providing patient/ clinical instruction when called upon for professional advice. Evaluates course content and material on a regular basis; obtains feedback from participants regarding each unit of instruction.
  • Key Responsibility Category: Reporting/Data Management- Maintains records on course enrollment attendance and program completion by participant to ensure that accurate information is retained. Revises classroom content continuously to reflect changing knowledge bases and student evaluations. Grades and evaluates student work and provides feedback. Participates in special projects which support the goals and mission of the department.
  • Key Responsibility Category: EHC Service Standards- Exemplifies professionalism and serves as a role model for staff. Develops a professional working relationship and promotes teamwork among all members of the interdisciplinary care team. Demonstrates collaboration across all areas by embodying EHCs Care Transformation Model. Identifies patient care issues acts towards a resolution and communicates the issues to the senior departmental leadership. Demonstrates proficiency in technology that promotes communication and facilitates delivery of care.
  • Key Responsibility Category: Policy and Procedure - Overview Supports the implementation of Respiratory Care Practitioner driven protocols. Assists in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures in accordance with state federal and organizational guidelines; reviews revises and communicates them to ensure compliance.
  • Key Responsibility Category: Patient Care and Advocacy- Depending upon campus the educator will provide all aspects of respiratory care services for adult pediatric and neonatal patients on a routine basis. Performs clinical duties of a respiratory therapist during staffing shortages or other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care or related science.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the respiratory care field. Experience in planning and conducting educational sessions to promote staff development and student competence preferred.
  • Currently licensed as an active Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Georgia.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Active membership in American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).
  • Active membership in National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • BLS required. ACLS required.
  • NPS suggested if working in Special care nursery/NICU
  • ACCS suggested if working in Critical Care.
