The salary range for this position is CAD $45.46/Hr. - CAD $65.35/Hr.

Summary

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Manager Wellness the Lead is responsible for leadership development administration and evaluation of PHC strategies to promotes employee physical and psychological health and support the provision of a safe and healthy workplace.

  • The position assumes key role in the development and enhancement of programs focused on health promotion and illness/disease prevention as well as workplace psychological safety.
  • Develops and implements strategies to support employee health and wellness self-management; guides the development implementation and training related to CSA Psychologically Safe Workplace standards including policy development and involvement in the Respect at Work policy implementation; and establishes measures to monitor the effectiveness of programs and to assess mitigate and control related risks to the organization.
  • Provides oversight and leadership of PHCs communicable disease exposure program and immunization campaigns.
  • Provides coverage for the Disability Management Advisor team portfolios as required.
  • Enhances partnerships with key stakeholders both internal and external at a variety of levels.
  • Provides ongoing consultation to multidisciplinary health care teams across PHC and represents stakeholders on committees and working groups as required.

What You Bring

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in health sciences health promotion public health occupational health or organizational psychology plus coursework in Occupational Health Public Health or a related area
  • Five (5) years recent related experience as an occupational health professional in a healthcare setting with knowledge of health promotion and illness/disease prevention mental health programs occupational health and safety prevention practices and experience in program development implementation marketing and evaluation or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current health and safety legislation regulations and statutes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the health coaching process to support healthy behavior change in clients.
  • Ability to provide leadership guidance and direction to others including team members leaders and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present clear and decisive information using the principles of adult education.
  • Ability to effectively organize prioritize and delegate work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong mediation and facilitation skills and the ability to problem solve complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project planning and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile analyze and maintain statistical data.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and commitment to program evaluation.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including various computer software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Your Day to Day:

  • Responsible for the development of innovative new programs that address illness/disease prevention and psychological health reducing the burden of disability in the employee population in all areas of Providence Health Care.
  • Develops implements and evaluates the designed programs/policies according to evidence-based resources including: comprehensive corporate and individual needs assessments; analysis of statistics; current research literature pertaining to occupational health; mental health; and communicable disease prevention practices and protocols; legislative requirements; and chronic disease management strategies.
  • Champions these initiates throughout the organization and builds acceptance and commitment to related policies procedures practices and standards. This includes promoting a culture that encourages a healthy and safe work environment individual responsibility and personal commitment to health and safety. Prepares and presents related presentations and briefings.
  • Maintains communications and relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure effective establishment of new policies and practices negotiate contracts expand programs obtain funding and support for new initiatives.
  • Builds business cases for new programs and/or program components and presents with the Director to the Senior Leadership Team for approval.
  • Coordinates and manages aspects of the designated program and/or additional projects across multiple sites and facilities to ensure consistency of practice procedure and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Acts as a resource and subject matter expert in these areas. Provides leadership and guidance to team members including HR Advisors and other PHC staff. Coordinates work assignments/working groups on before of the department as needed as they relate to specific program component/project.
  • Recommends develops and delivers employee health and psychological safety training including providing clinical expertise on health issues to staff.
  • Provides assistance and guidance to other staff in the management of critical incidents.
  • Ensures the maintenance and updating of program/project documentation.
  • Provides relief and vacation coverage for the Disability Management Advisor team.
  • Maintains an awareness of trends and issues in health care and health promotion through education literature reviews and other means. Identifies opportunities and strategies to enhance the delivery of educational information.
  • Provides oversight and leadership of PHCs communicable disease exposure program and immunization campaigns.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
