Job Description

Department Overview

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy services this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of oncology and infusion pharmacy services at OHSU and partner hospitals. This person oversees all medication inventory operational facility and compliance related requirements of all licensed pharmacies and associated remote dispensing locations. Off site clinics are in scope and are not limited to Knight Cancer CHO person may act as or support team members who are registered with the Board of Pharmacy asPharmacists In Charge. Responsibilities include but are not limited to employee supervision; programdevelopment; policy revision and development; management of business and professional activities of thepharmacy; quality safety and process improvement work; maintenance of practice standards and compliancewith accreditation standards as well as applicable laws and regulations; and coordination of pharmacy serviceswith interdisciplinary team members. This position rotates on-call responsibilities.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical/Operations Management:

  • Primarly manages operations of ambulatory services in a cost-effective manner directing day-to-day operations (24/7) delegating responsibility and authority for providing services problem- solving issues identified by staff and internal/external stakeholders and coordinate services in assigned areas with interdisciplinary teams. Thisincludes on-call responsibilities.

Departmental Interdiscliplinary Coordination:

  • Facilitates patient care services by collaborating with all pharmacy department staff other healthcare team members and hospital departments as well as external agencies to ensure continuity of care.

Program Design & Development:

  • Develops and/or redesigns facilities systems and policies/procedures to support service improvement or expansion. Identifies opportunities for value analysis.

Quality and Safety:

  • Develop and monitors dashboards and quality metrics related to pharmacy department and service area(s) goals. Participates in the development and implementation of the Department of Pharmacys strategic plan in alignment with the OHSU Healths mission vision and values. Practices Performance Excellence (OPEX) for daily management and continuous improvement.

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Manages develops implements and maintainsnecessary policies and procedures process improvements training andmonitoring activities to ensure operations are compliant with appropriate lawsregulations and organizational policies.

Supervision of Staff:

  • Recruits hires trains develops schedules and supervises assigned staff. Develops performance standards conducts performance appraisal (PE); and recommends salary increases consistent with hospital policy and procedure.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Pharmacist in Oregon
  • Pharmacy BS or PharmD
  • PGY2 residency PGY1 with 2 years of relevant experience or 5 years of relevant experience

Job Related KnowledgeSkills and Abilities(Competencies):

  • Professional Communication written and verbal
  • Supervision of personnel
  • Contemporary Practice of Pharmacy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree work history of involvement in leadership projects
  • Board Certification

Additional Details

The incumbent will spend a significant amount of time at a computer terminal. The position must deal withsituations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition within the health care setting therecan be significant lack of control over the work pace with frequent interruptions (work is often dictated byexternal factors) that may lead to mental fatigue or stress.
